Exercise Physiology – Exercise is Medicine

I have been an Accredited Exercise Physiologist since 2008. I also have qualifications as a personal trainer, fitness instructor, aqua instructor, animal flow instructor and many more modalities in which I have incorporated into sessions with each client depending on their focus.

I love to look at the biomechanics of movement. This skill set was enhanced with the years working at the John Hunter Hospital, Newcastle, as an Exercise Therapist, in which I prescribed exercise as medicine and rehabilitation to hundreds of patients.

I have been fortunate to help stroke patients be able to move better, and I have even had huge success getting people to walk again after they were bedridden for 12months and could only go to the toilet with a lift assistance.

I have worked with people from all walks of life, police (helping them get into the force and maintain fitness), semi-athletes, post partum mothers, children with disabilities and more.

Obesity, diabetes, MS, recovering cardiac patients, joint replacements, diastasis recti, Cerebal Palsy, wheel chair bound, anorexia, cancer patients, postural weaknesses are just some of the many conditions people have had that I have had the pleasure to be able to help and train.

Exercise Physiologists work holistically and this is even more so with me, because of my background as a Natural Therapist, Health Coach and Nutritionist.

Sometimes (actually more often than not) the client needs help with behavior change. Having completed Population Health at university (think sports psychology, epidemiology), plus also having studied Nutrition Psychology, I have the qualifications and skill set to assist them with this psychological aspect, through goal setting and a proven method of health coaching to help the clients achieve their goal each and every time.

Nasal breathing and posture are two aspects to health that I have a huge passion for and love teaching it to each client.

When you are trained by me, together we work out the very best way forward that works for you. Each session has variety, skills training and a fun element.
